Kanawha County -- According to a press release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies, faculty at Riverside High School and Sgt. B.D. Reynolds, the school resource officer, responded to a fight in the girls' restroom about 11 a.m. Thursday.
The release states a 15-year-old student caused a disturbance and cursed at a teacher, according to school officials. She was then taken to the principal's office and suspended.
Deputies said when the girl's mother, Tina Williams, 36, of Cabin Creek arrived at the school, she caused a disturbance.
Autorities said Reynolds escorted the mother and daughter out of the school building. Deputies said Williams refused to leave. A physical altercation broke out as Reynolds attempted to arrest Williams, according to the release. That's when the daughter allegedly punched the officer in the face.
Officers with the Belle Police Department and West Virginia State Police responded, and both females were taken into custody, according to the release.
Tina Williams is now facing several charges, including battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, obstructing an officer, disrupting school and assualt on a school official.
The daughter is facing four counts of battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and obstructing an officer. She is being charged through the juvenile court.
Both will be arraigned Thursday afternoon.
